Police Suspend Operation for Four-Year-Old Disappeared in Australia's Wilderness
Australian authorities have ended the hunt for a four-year-old who has been lost in the remote area for almost twenty-one days, after renewed attempts proved unsuccessful to discover any evidence of the youngster.
Timeline of Occurrences
The child was spotted playing outside his family property on a isolated farmland near Yunta, about 300km from Adelaide, on 27 September.
His grandmother stepped away for about half an hour before looking for him, only to find the child gone, triggering one of the biggest ground and aerial missions in the region's past.
Current Status
Police - who do not believe wrongdoing - say they will persist investigating, but that the case has become a "search for recovery".
Last week, authorities briefly scaled back the hunt, only to restart it on Tuesday alongside 80 defense members.
"Spokesperson the commissioner said authorities were looking a wider region based on updated evaluations from medical and rescue professionals, rather than any recent developments."
Search Obstacles
On the end of last week, police announced that the latest hunt had not uncovered any traces of the boy.
"The fact that the young boy is a young child, the terrain is very difficult, harsh and subject to unpredictable climate has made the searching challenging and more challenging for those involved," officials said in a release.
About 470 square kilometers - an region about double the dimensions of a major city - has now been scanned, and a 12-person unit set up earlier this week is expected to carry on examining. Police have not ruled out more operations of the property in the coming days.

Gus, who has been described as an adventurous but reserved youngster, was spotted wearing a dark hat, light-colored pants, shoes and a blue full-sleeve top featuring a bright cartoon design.
The case has sparked huge attention across the country, with images of the blond, wavy-haired youngster displayed throughout regional news and discussion running rife on the internet.
It prompted officials to appeal that individuals discontinue calling them with their "opinions", and urge for them to access details from credible sources.
Relatives Reaction
Officials recently said the youngster's family remain "resilient" despite the difficult situation.
"It's easy to comprehend just how they are feeling... without having answers as to exactly where their child is and what's happened to him. This would be devastating for any families," Official the commissioner said.
Via a family representative, the relatives loved ones has earlier said they are "overwhelmed" by their son's disappearance.
"This represents a trauma to our household and loved ones, and we are having trouble to process what has occurred," Bill Harbison said.
"Their son's disappearance is felt in all of us, and we yearn for him beyond expressions can express."
