Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in South America

The Prince of Wales will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, as announced by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were present at the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting organized in partnership with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Dedication

The King has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the UN meeting.

Royal sources have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as assuming an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This participation involved presentations alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.

The UN meeting will dovetail with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the climate conference on November 6th.

Recently the William characterized the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

King Charles has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers confronting humanity over climate change, climate change and ecological decline," the monarch informed delegates.
