Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
